9/11

it is september eleven

that day that i remember

almost everything

the surreal-ness of it all

the slow motion reel of hate

and deep deep love

the smoke

the ashes

the fear

the people

the lives

the people running in

the people running out

blank faces

fear and doubt

in a race against time

and time has passed

and all that we once felt

clinging to our screen

as we played it out

we now have nothing left

to talk about

we bicker among ourselves

about trivial stuff

we are worshipping

all the doom players

the home wreckers

the narcissist among us

over and over

the lies

never trust

i hear the sirens

again and again

I remember

hey jules

if things don’t go well

and their not looking good

i’ll see you when you get here

hey

we are here

if you remember anything

the way it was

it is not now

hey people

if things don’t go well

and they’re not looking good

remember what he said

i want you to know that

i absolutely love you

remember

it is always better in life

than when dead

we are here now

life is the miracle

fragile as hell

so find your heart again

there is no instead

in a race against time

put down your misery

surrender to the memory

of all the heroes

we all have

languished

and committed

to never be

we refuse to see
