do not wait

if we wait, the flowers wither. if we wait, the leaves fall. if we wait, the snow comes. and if we miss summer, we miss the long days and the fireflies. we miss the twinkle of fallen stars in our neighborhoods and backyards. we miss the intricacies of life. the nuances of relationships. the miracles of the universe. if we wait, we accept fate, and maybe fate is not our destiny. if we wait for all to turn cold, life becomes difficult to unfold. frozen. we become stuck in an old, run down room of thoughts and pain, heartbreak and shame. if we wait for someone else, we ride their coattails into their game, and we lose the rules to our own. rule number one, that clearly states…do not wait. open the gate to your own garden, and bloom. death comes for us way too soon. regrets are all about blame. live wild and free, and run from anyone who mentions the word tame. there is no love that remains buried for decades in the slo-mo game of wait. do not be late for what we coin, our one and only life. it is rife with possibility, that only individually, we can each see. we must take desire as a key, and unlock our door to what we then define as free. we must never ever wait for the mystery for guarantees. in each of us, lies miracle ingenuity and mystical intrigue. the heartbeat of our longing to be, lives in the abandon of wait. i see only one map, and it leads to me. my magnum opus was finally written in the words i was afraid to say, words i never said, while looking blindly for a home that was never found. then, one day, i had had enough, the words suddenly began to flow. i lowered my canoe into the current of the river below, not even knowing if my words would ever be read. the knowing is my words will live on when i am gone and dead. my legacy. nothing ever remains in wait, except the reality of waking up too late. ~ patty
