I think our societal norms are crushing people. Expectations are unrealistic. In our world of mutant capitalism, wealth is everything. Maintaining wealth and all that goes with it is as stressful as the person in borderline poverty who can’t pay rent. We are always one second away from losing all. Plus Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain were highly gifted people. People with high IQs feel so intensely. The sky was falling. The sparkle was gone. Whatever they were afraid of, whatever they felt hopeless about was truly breaking their hearts. That is what our society does best…it breaks people. Sadly.
