i thought maybe today i would go silent

i thought i would turn away from this broken world

but that is not what the universe

or god looks for

it looks for hope in starry skies

in moonlit nights

for a lighthouse on rough seas

a steeple in a barren field

a bouquet by the side door

and a hand to pick up

broken pieces from the floor

and unequivocally

hope looks for me
