rush

i never know

when awe will stop me

in my tracks

sometimes in extraordinary places

like standing by an open endless sea

its vastness overpowers me

and i feel so very small

sometimes in the yard

an ordinary day

like yesterday

awe i think

is a message from god

it reminds me of the miracle i am

and slightly of who i am not

suddenly from the corner of my eye

i see a flurry of color

a gold rush

swirling and rising from

the patch of garden flowers

yellow breasted chats

or maybe goldfinches with glorious monarchs

colorful moths and an imaginary golden thread

along with an array of bees

fluttered all at once

towards blue sky

it happened so fast

yet in slow motion

gathering my senses

it was as if

they were all called to heaven

simultaneously

the dance of wings and color

i did not say a thing

i just watched them go

i call it awe

an awareness

i am told

to open to miracles

untold words in stories

and the glory in my tiny world

i am awake to let joy find me

in the minutes of my life

unfolding

like a gift

from underneath the christmas tree

my heart beats fast

inside my chest

i let it go

wild and free

it takes my breath away

my life a constant mystery

a collection of sacred moments

found inside an every day
