true love

in the working of my mind

there is a glitch

it gets hung up on chance

after chance

after chance

sometimes

i just want someone to ask me to dance

and i stand there

and stand there

waiting for the music to play

and it never does

all i hear is

my own playlist

a voice

a hum

so quiet in

the morning mist

before the sun catches

all the diamonds the night hung

on trees

in grass

almost everything ends

before it begins

and so i whisper tomorrow

but it becomes today

and tomorrow slips away

i am back where i started

many moons ago

on the night

the moon asked me to dance

the ebb and flow

to move to the rhythm of the sea

and i said yes

like a shore bird

i am stuck in the past

waiting on chance

to take my hand

hold me close

and gift me

with a long stemmed pink rose

as the orange glow

spIns me across the sand

to a foreign land

and i wake up there

all by chance

i look around

it is like the lost and found

in early school

when all was innocent and new

before we knew

all that could be

but never was

just because

and i said so
