west

the west is on fire

i feel a dread of sorts

an uncertainty approaching

like i must tidy up my stuff

pack what i love

get rid of the rest

buy a farm

to grow my own food

but then

what if i feel

the need to go away

another country perhaps

i feel so afraid

how does this happen

in four years

to be exact

i do not recognize faces anymore

the god that they praise

an intrusion

to my moral values and ways

the country run down

very third world uptowns

broken windows

shattered lives

i have moments

i contemplate

how i fit into this human disease

i count the days till november third

i will vote against evil

i give you my word

and my god

so loving and kind

an artist of sorts

will bless all the caregivers

protecting this earth

the west is on fire

our attention to this

is who we become

our future

right now

unapologetically undone
